Zak came home at 5.30pm yesterday and he slept on the settee until we finished our maghrib prayers. I asked him to get up and pray. He followed me to the room, landed on the bed and continued sleeping. Then, this devilish idea came to me - it's actually a good way to wake him up and ask him to mandi.
"Zak, dah pukul 6.30 nih, nanti lambat gi sekolah. Bangun lekas"
"Herm, tadi kata semayang maghrib..."
"Mane ada...subuh la orang kata"
"Ye ke, dah pukul brape ni kak rul"
"Subuh dah, tu tengok kak izan tgh buat breakfast"
He quickly climbed down from the bed, took his towel and went straight to the bathroom.
"kak rul, ambikkan baju..."
"jangan lupa, brush you teeth"
(Zak would only brush his teeth in the morning, before going to school)
I gave him his school uniform,
"hari ni Selasa kan...pakai baju sukan lah!"
He went to get his baju sukan and saw kak izan washing the dishes...
"akak dengan kak rul baru habis sahur ni...cepat sikit Zak, akak nak pergi ofis plak"
So she became my ally (I told Zak she's preparing breakfast, but then she said she just had sahur to puasa the next day - aiyoh!)
He wore his baju sukan and prayed. I asked him how many rakaat, he said three.
"Subuh kan dua je. Ko semayang ape ni"
"Eih, lupa...ingatkan maghrib"
He went to the room again to pray, but this time I couldn't help but to laugh at him. He looked puzzled. I asked him to take a look at the watch -
"Tipuuuu!"
"kak izan pun sama!"
and he punched my shoulder. An eight year old with a very strong fist - he's my first tkd student and bold enough to spar with his own instructor. Of course lah, I gave him "chance" maa...
