Have received lots of comments on my previous post, there's an urge to clarify few things and to kena bang some more hehehe. Will bear in mind that criticism shows that my entry is being read, and differing opinions suggest the complexity of a society - a society that is developiong into a more mature state.
First of all, let us not be too critical about this couple, Hanif-Nuraidah (kalau tak silap) - that won't be fair to them, as Abu mentioned, it will only hurt her more. Let's name them as the man and the wife (empty your mind, put little association between the man and Hanif and the wife and Nuraidah, and the trial - little as in, just the tried case, not the people involved in it). Take the man and the wife as one of the many couples in Malaysia.
My intention was to highlight the success of the media in diverting our attention from one HOT discussion to another thing. But of course lah, as a human being, sometimes I get a little bit carried away with my emotions, thus I apologize for such flaws.
Scene ONE: Few months ago the media revealed about the deceased's sudden death, and revealed the man's sexual affair with her. The society condemned the man and this I heard from a person who I considered to be quite alim - or at least appears to be alim lah (alim and warak are two different things!) "His wife is pregnant, 3rd child some more, and he's f***ing up some other lady. He must be MAD!!"
Scene TWO: The wife appears to the media scene. The society pities her, sympathisez her and the man is saved - the society seems to have forgotten about the man's "doings".
Ok, now consider these:
i- Imagine the man is your father, and the wife is your mother, being cheated and played. How do you feel then?
ii-Imagine the man is your brother-in-law and the wife is your dear sister. Would you agree with her decision to appear on the TV and newspapers (I'm not interested in discussing about her decision to forgive the man - way too critical and too penyibuk rite.) then?
iii- And most importantly, if the wife is the one who did the "stuff", do you honestly think that the man would stand by her side all the way through the trial. If she's your wife, would you do the same thing for her?
Sometimes I wonder, why didn't the media highlight the wife's family reaction on her decision to go public about her support. See, again the media choose what to publish/broadcast and what not to.
In my earlier posting, I said the wife is stupid, and a litle bit dumb. I won't take that back, not because of egoism, but some people might have interpreted what I meant in a different way (from what I had in mind). I was not trying to judge her IQ or intellectuality. I was just saying that her reaction to this issues; her decision to appear in public, in the media was stupid - suicidal move. The implication of her appearing in the media would worsen her name and family name. The wife, she's smart, whether she realizes it or not, she has created a diversion. How? I've told you earlier - scene one and two.
There's nothing more important to woman than her dignity. If this one thing pun kena pijak by the men, and she's doing nothing about it, there's no meaning in her life anymore. She would be like the prisoners of Azkaban, her happiness being sucked out of her soul by the Dementors, she'd live her life like a zombie. ^__^ . Maybe I watched and read Harry Potter way tooo much. Barulah betul kata pepatah Melayu, "hidup segan, mati tak mahu." And, yeah, I understand the meaning of the proverb, but let's extend the use of it to this context.
Oklah, this will be my last post on this issue...nanti boring plak rite? Have a good weekend folks...and tmr I'm definitely going to buy a new handphone!
