A Lunch Date with Bai Yang

Had lunch with Bai Yang today. She's a course-mate from China, a few years older than me, but both of us are in final year. She asked me something about martial arts, and I told her that I'm practicing Taekwon-Do. Her eyes were wide opened and she asked me which level. Shyly I said, "black belt, 1st Dan". And she slapped my shoulder in disbelief so hard that I almost fell down. Then she moved her face in front of mine, and squeezed my chin. Erkkkkkk! GELI!!! I have this kind of phobia with people who like to touch my body parts, even tailors and doctors - yeah, for the second or third time I'm telling you this, I am DIFFERENT (some say weird (?) ). We sat down at the HS cafe, talked about lots of things. I have to say Bai Yang is a very good observer. She could read my personality/behaviour - "Alia...I think you are the kind who does not approach people but you will entertain those who come to you, and you will be a good friend to them". Well it's true, I'm not good at approaching people, I don't go and say "hi" to make new friends, and God knows how hard for me to open my mouth to somebody that I don't know except when I desperately need their help/assistance. Yeah, call me what you want, label me as selfish, or individualistic...frankly, I'm just too shy to mingle with people that I'm not familiar with. I saw the ring on Bai Yang's finger, so I asked her whether she's married or engaged (penyibuk hehe!!). She's engaged to a guy back in China, planning to get married before her Masters. But there are too many things that would come in between if they decided to get married too soon. Poor Bai Yang. Guess what, the cepu mas question came up - "How about you, don't you have any special friend" - I don't know how to answer such question because I don't normally share my personal life with friends from the univ. I told her that I'll look for one after I finish my studies, she laughed. I told her about what Farid told me earlier - some men might feel threaten with girls who have background in martial arts - she laughed again. She said I need to be a lil bit more girlish, "yeah, rite. Wait lah when I'm a lil bit older hehehe". She went on saying that when I've fallen in love, I would change. I think she needs to change her subject to psychology lah hehe.

- funny, most of my friends are non-Malays, and in my univ I mingle better with Sabahans, Sarawakians and foreigners (ye ke?).
