Inspired by a friend, shahxeb...manglish, ungrammatical, nonsense verses that do not rhyme.

Why love and later die
Why not FLIRT and soon fly

Why work and still not satisfied
Why not relax a bit and enjoy life

Why smile when you're actually pretending
Why not go and kick some a**

Why dream, when you know it's never gonna be REAL!!

In class we are being taught of the "essence of poetry"...but it's actually the theoretical part of poetry, u can't simply interpret and appreciate poetry by attending this courses, but at least you would know about the poetic features, structures, some great poems, some great poets, and lots of lies. Lies?? because we are taught to interpret poems, verses and so on. But that interpretation does not necessarily represent the original idea of that particular poet, instead of trying to unclog the mysteries behind Shakespeare's, Wordsworth's, Blake's, Dickinson's and Whitman's works (to name few), we are actually building another distinct and perhaps irrelevant theories pertaining to this great works of art. I'm not saying that interpretation of poetry is bad or unimportant, but in the courses that I've attended in my univ, the lecturers and mostly the students were very much involved in the interpretation that they tend to neglect the fact that poetry can be very direct, no secrets, very clear and obvious. The words are there to describe, to explain and to express. Sometimes we expect too much from a poetry that it turns out to be lifeless and dull. Poetry interpretation is like a routine, thus it eventually became a tedious and boring process of learning. We have to learn to appreciate poetry by itself i.e. what we get from the surface, then only we go beyond it...that's my 2 cents lah, I might be wrong...
