This entry is dedicated to the madam ^_^ , NOT directed to her hehehe.

Ever heard of cetak rompak personality and fake identity? It has nothing to do with the cap ayam pirated CDs and DVDs. It's about how people present themselves in their daily lives, dealing with the community and contributing to the superficial fake identity of a particular society (rhyme?). Cetak rompak personality is quite common among Malaysian artistes. It could be explained thru these examples:

1) There's only one authentic Siti Nurhaliza in Malaysia, but many other Siti (s) and non-Siti (s) tried to be like her e.g. same music genre, more or less the same way of singing and the voice is almost similar, dressing etc. Not long after Siti gained her popularity, many other Siti (s) appeared in the local music scene.

2) Fashion and Style!! Anak pak Zain, copycat of J.Lo! no?

Ok, now fake identity: Superficial fantasy vs. Ugly reality

SUPERFICIAL FANTASY

a) We attach ourselves to the Asian values (Malaysia truly Asia kinda thing) and tradition. Polite and friendly nation, uphold the truth and promote sincerity.

b) We claim that respecting elderly and caring for children and youth are our priorities, fundamental elements of morality. Remaja tunggak negara!

UGLY REALITY

a) On the road, our heads ballooned to the size bigger than the steering wheel and become harder than besi waja. Drive over the speed limit, care less about the yellow light. If another careful driver drives according to the limit on the most right lane, our heart will ache and send a signal (read: heart, not brain) to the hand to turn on the high beam, or even send an irritated audible message across...honk! honk!
After midnight, we will get together at some hi-way, not for ol'skool reunion but for lumba haram. If we get caught, or kena saman ekor, we pretend to be suffering from alzheimer, lupa nak bayar saman, didn't attend the court hearing etc.

b) When we get into the LRT, during the sardine-ing peak hours, we tend to lupa diri. A po-po enters the train, we pretend not to see, close our eyes and start snoring loudly. Behind us, on the tinted window "Seating priority - elderly, disabled and pregnant women."

We see young couples practising some of the "skills" they acquired from the pirated blue CDs, we turn our faces agitatedly, not even trying to pass some words of positive advice, we kick aside our maturity and pretend not to see.

We send our precious gems to school/college/university to be doctors, lawyers and computers engineers, but we also lepas tangan, and leave them under full authority of the teachers at school and our Indon/Philipinos maids at home. They grew up to be i) serial killers with special abilities to remove the vital organs and sell them at the black market. ii) towkeh skim cepat kaya, using their sweet saliva to trap people and manipulate them, when they get enuff money and trust they cabut lari. iii) computer hackers, spreading viruses over the net, and stealing military secrets without even knowing how to operate the codes. We neglect our responsibilities, and pretend not to see.

The ugly realities are the depictions of our true identity, but we shamelessly tell the world over that we are a part of the well-off society and thus, we have created a fake identity.

We only see what we choose to see, amd we missed a hell lot of realities

p/s: I don't wanna hide under this lieawulf mask anymore bcos I don't want people to question me on this fake identity, and I want people to see the real me...so, this entry is posted by alia zul. Get it?
